Privacy & Security
My Life Story was created to help preserve personal stories, memories, voices, and family history with care.
We understand that the memories shared in MLS are deeply personal. Privacy and thoughtful access control are built into the platform from the beginning.
Your stories belong to you
Your memories, recordings, photos, and book content are never sold or used for advertising.
You control:
who can access your book
who can contribute
whether recordings are included
whether media access requires a password
Shared books are invitation-based and protected through role-based permissions..
Secure storage & media access
MLS is built on Base44, a platform that maintains SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications.
Data is encrypted at rest, and media recordings are protected using tokenized access links and short-lived secure media sessions.
Audio and video recordings included in printed books or PDFs use secure QR-based access links rather than direct file URLs.
Optional media passwords can be added for additional protection.
AI-assisted transcription & writing tools
MLS may use trusted AI services to help transcribe recordings, organize memories, and assist with chapter drafting.
These tools are used to support your storytelling experience — not to claim ownership of your content.
Backups & recovery
MLS maintains automated backups to help protect against accidental data loss or system failure.
Users can also export their stories and media for personal archiving.
Your control
You can:
edit or remove memories at any time
revoke media access links
export your data
delete your account
Transparency
MLS administrators may access data only when needed for support, troubleshooting, or system maintenance.
MLS is currently hosted in the United States.
